PROJECT DESCRIPTION

Our model telescope is a true to scale representation of the telescope that discovered the Psyche asteroid in 1852. This project is meant to be a museum exhibit that can be built by all that are affiliated with the mission to Psyche to provide information about the ‘Journey to a Metal World’. By looking into our model telescope, one can view images of Psyche, see the history behind it, as well as see images of the Psyche orbiter as it was constructed and launched.

This work was created in partial fulfillment of the Rochester Institute of Technology Capstone Course “MSD1 497” and “MECE 497.” The work is a result of the Psyche Student Collaborations component of NASA’s Psyche Mission (https://psyche.ssl.berkeley.edu). “Psyche: A Journey to a Metal World” [Contract number NNM16AA09C] is part of the NASA Discovery Program mission to solar system targets.
